LION TAMES THE OLD BOYS TO END SEASON ON A HIGH
White lion went into the jubilee cup final knowing that after losing in the league cup final that this was not going to be an easy game against a side that beat millstream in the semi final how ever white lion started the game brightly with ricky smart pulling the strings in midfield it was only a matter of time be fore taking the lead in the first half hour through a bicycle kick on the edge of the box from jamie lancaster how ever the lead didn't last long as a strong and well organised hornsmill side thought back to make it 1-1 through martin burrows-gee and well deserved as the old boys did not stop believing in them selves and are a very tight nit side been together years and tony hayden the manger is a credit to his team and the league
the second half started with white lion pressure however they could not seem to find that second goal with a number of missed chances with tom woodward getting down the line was always a danger with his distribution. this was proving to be a very hard game until a corner found glen smart all alone to head home to make it 2-1.To there credit hornsmill battled back and looked like they could get an equaliser until another goal from jamie lancaster finally killed the game off making it 3-1 at the end.
White lion would like to thank hornsmill old boys for a great game and would also like to congratulate them in making it to the final good luck for next year thanks.
The Stream Rain Champions
Millstream 4 – 2 FC Boca
The game was the best of the four encounters these two clubs have contested all season both clubs have dominated all season with FC Boca knocking Millstream out of 2 cup semi finals
1 – 0, and 2 – 1, and Millstream doing the double in the League 3 – 2 and 4 – 2. Both clubs play the game the way it should be played I can’t remember one bad word against each other on the pitch. Both teams have the up most respect for each other. In 4 hard thought games there have only been 4 yellow cards.
FC Boca went into the game 2 points behind that meant a win was the only result they could get to win the league, 10 minutes into the game a good move down the left saw the ball fall to the feet of Michael Tebbit and from the left edge of the box, he hit a fierce shot into the bottom right of the net to make it 1-0 to the Millstream and made it a bigger hill for FC Boca to climb. But with the talent that they have throughout there team this was never over. Millstream went in at half time 1-0 to the good the second half started with both sides playing football it was end to end and on the 53rd minute a ball over the millstream defence saw Steve Wright lob the keeper only to hit the crossbar but the oncoming Ahmet Gursoy who was at the back post slot the ball home to make it 1-1 and it was just the lift they needed. This game went to another level with not only being tight but tense as well and on 65 minutes FC Boca split the millstream defence and Andrew Varnakkides bearing down on goal to coolly slot the ball home to make it 2-1 Boca. This seemed to unnerve the Millstream then an injury to David Jones of the Millstream saw the Manager make 2 subs, bringing on Harry loud and Martin Durkin to replace Jones and Sean Greenham. Within 5 minutes Andy Tarsey got down the right to cross the ball and there was Durkin to make it 2-2 the balance swinging back to the millstream all of a sudden. It was just what the Millstream deserved then with 15 minutes to go Michael Bardle picked the ball up and going away from goal hit the ball with his right foot straight into the top corner to make it 3-2 Millstream. Bardle and the FC Boca midfield man Patrick Campbell had a battle all game and are both a credit to the game of football and two of the most genuine and gentlemen of the game. I would have loved to of seen Campbell when he was younger because he is some player and as a manager myself he must be a credit to have in your side. Then with 10 minutes to go a ball into the box to Andy Tarsey who tormented the FC Boca defence all game was bundled over and the millstream was awarded a penalty and up stepped David Gerty to convert the penalty to make it 4-2 and bury the game. Both teams had goal chances and both sides hitting the bar. Its very hard to pick a man of the match but Michael Tebbit of the Millstream was superb and had a great attitude he gave every thing he had and as I said Patrick Campbell of FC Boca makes the game look so easy and is a class act at the age of 38. I would like to thank Graham Martin as acting chairperson & fixtures secretary and Paul Carter as referee’s secretary for covering all the fixtures. All the referee’s, all the clubs who represent this league you are all a credit and a special thanks to Dale the manager of FC Boca and on the day the ref Melvin Pateman who was different class and his linesman Paul carter and Ian godber who where superb.
THE STREAM IS SINKING AS THE OLD BOYS PLAY THEM OFF THE PARK.
Millstream where top of division 2 and seamed to think the Old Boys from Hornsmill where going to be a push over but they come unstuck. Millstream went ahead after 10 minutes with a good finish from Martin Durkin and they seemed to think the game was won. But after this there was only ever going to be one side that was going to win and that was Hornsmill Old Boys as ever single player on there side wanted to win. The Millstream have to learn from this that you have to have a bit of heart. On 35 minutes the classy Jamie Higgs picked the ball up from 35 yards out to lob the keeper, this lad dose not need many chances as this is what he can do to any side at any level even he showed how much it meant to him at he duly let the players and management from the Millstream know as he peeled away cupping his ears. The game stayed 1 – 1 till half time. After the break Martin Burrows-Gee and Darren Paget tormented the millstream defence to force a corner the ball was played into the box and Matthew Cook rose above the Millstream defence to head the ball home. He was by far the best player on the pitch and deserved his goal to make it 2 – 1 as the game went on the Millstream seemed to get worse and worse and with James Hogg and Bradley Read working there socks off in mid field they seemed to win everything. This is the kind of passion they showed all game and with a great ball forward to Darren Paget who curled the ball from 40 yards over the keeper and into the top right hand corner of the net to make it 3 – 1 and the Millstream had nothing in return as they only had 4 shots on target all game. I would just like to wish good luck to Tony Hayden and all the lads in the final as they deserve to be there.
Lightening strike twice for millstream as F.C Boca win Lcc Quarter final battle!
Two weeks ago both F.C. Boca and Millstream put on a fantastic display in the semi final of the division 2 shield and the Lcc cup quarter final clash this sunday did not disapoint.
The game kicked off and same as the first game millstream created the early chances with two F.C boca players making some goal line clearances.
As the first half grew on F.c Boca starting playing some fantastic football spreading the ball round on what is easily the best pitch in the league.
half time its was 0-0 and it looked like another extra time battle.
The second half had the same quality as the both teams was playing football and creating chances 10 minutes in the second half and millstream goal keeper pulled off a great savesfrom an excelliant free kick from Dale Walters then a good shot from Darren Rawlings.
Then 15 minute from the end Darren Rawlings played in a excellient corner which fell to Andew Varnakkides he volleyed the ball with power and millstream goal keeper pull off a brilliant save but was not enough as centre half Rob Rollinson poked in the ball at the back post to make it 1-0 to F.C Boca.
Then same as the last game Millstream then hit us with unreal pressure and their last attack committed every one and F.c Boca counter attacked with Ahmet Gursoy narrowly missing a chance to make 2-0 and kill the game.
When the whistle went it was a relief and i would like to thank clive brooks and the millstream for another fantastic game who were all very professional in defeat.
Also i would like to thank the officals as there were superb in a very high tempo game.
F.c Boca now meet the cuffley in the semi final.
SALE SHATTERS GOFFS OAK DREAMS
Cuffley Reserves of the Third Division came back from the dead twice to remarkably defeat Division One and Cup Champions Goffs Oak C.C on penalties in the League Challenge Cup quarter final. After going 2 - 0 down through goals from Dean Byles and Tommy Wade the youngsters battled back after a Rory Delap-esque throw from Eugene McIntyre was flicked in at the far post by captain Alfie Ferris. Goffs then piled on the pressure but couldn’t find a killer goal. Then, with 30 seconds to go, a Cuffley corner was eventually smashed in by Peter Capplis, forcing extra time. After an even first half, penalties loomed; however Goffs had other ideas, with Samuel Rose capping off a great move to give them a 3 - 2 lead with just 5 minutes left. But Cuffley refused to die, with just a minute left in extra time, a ball over the top was latched onto by Lloyd Sale, who hit a rocket of a shot over the keeper from 25 yards, forcing penalties. After 5 penalties each, the score was at 5 - 5, neither team missing a kick. After some deliberation from the players, Cuffley goalkeeper Beppe Castiglione stepped up for their 6th spot kick, tucking it into the bottom corner. He then stepped between the sticks and pulled off a remarkable save to send Cuffley to the semi-finals in their first season in senior football. Manager Steve Sale said “my boys just don’t know when to die. Just when you think it’s all over, they dig deep and pull it out of the bag. I’ve got nothing but admiration for them”. Cuffley will face either FC Boca or The Millstream of Division Two in the semis.
Sunday saw the Bridge House in action in the Jubilee Cup, and run out comfortable winners against a struggling Van Hage team.
The managers pre match concentrated on the need to avoid complacency against lowly opposition, reminding the team that they were currently without several first team regulars, and have a poor record away from home and in cup competitions.
But any fears of an upset were allayed when "The Legend that is the Marnix" rose like a salmon at the far post and steared his header into the top corner after 5 minutes. This-new found arial threat was no doubt helped by the 80's revival wig Marnix was wearing for the day! Alex Raven then had to be sharply off his line at the other end before Marnix had the ball in the net again only to have his effort chalked off for a slight handball. This was soon forgotten when after a sharp turn Marnix drove a low shot went into the far corner.
Van Hage came back again and a long range effort sailed over Raven in the Bridge House goal only to slam into the bar. The game was then however put beyond doubt when Tom Andrews produced two thunderbolts from 25 yards. Either were worthy of goal of the day, both were taken on the volley and the keeper could have set out on Saturday and still wouldn't have got across in time!
Marnix and Ollie Gardner both had golden chances in the six yard box with only the goal line to beat, but both skyed their efforts over the bar.
The second half was a pretty dreadful spectacle with too many individuals and not enough teamwork. Dave Keenan saw his first goal of the season, but just chipped it to the keeper instead. Ali Phipps hit the bar and Toby Gardner continued to hit the keeper! Eventually pressure had to tell and when the Van Hage keeper could only parry an Ali Phipps effort Toby was on hand to steer the ball home.
Marnix had yet another effort for his hatrick, but his tame effort was cleared off the line by the covering defender.
Then with 10 minutes to go Toby Gardner was again on hand to drive the ball home from 12 yards for his second and the Bridge House's sixth
The Bridge House away jinx struck once again at Presdales on Sunday, when an unlucky own goal from the otherwise excellent Matt Elder cost us a deserved three points.
As the season winds down Bridge House are picking up some worrying long term injuries, with three players already out for the season and six other players unavailable this week. So we were very glad to welcome Tom Andrews and Mike Smyth back after long breaks.
As so often this season The Bridge House played all the football with trademark dribbles by Ali Phipps down the left and Ian Balding always finding space on the right. It was therefore no surprise that it was from a combination of those players that we took the lead. Ian Baldings goal bound shot from ali Phipps' cross was blocked but Mikey Smyth was on hand to ram home the loose ball. But again the game followed a typical pattern as for all our possession we failed to create enough clear chances and did not kill off the game against well organised and hard working oponents.
The second half was a scrappy affair with Bridge House having a what chances there were and the back four dealing comfortably with any Sun & Harrow attacks. The game seemed destined for a one nil result until Matt Elders unlucky intervention.
I guess this result summed our 'so near yet so far' season playing some really great football, often scoring goals for fun but then dropping points even when the opposition had not even mustered a shot on target in the 90 minutes!
THE LION MAULS FC BOCA
One of the results of the season came on sunday when white lion shocked title hopefulls fc Boca with a 6-2 thrashing. White lion were certainly up for this right from the start playing some great football and creating plenty of chances. However the pressure finally paid off when a great through ball found jamie lancaster who raced through to finish into the top corner to make it 1-0.With more great football from white lion soon doubled there lead through ricky smart. However Boca didnt give in and pulled one back through daniel mitchell.Shortly after white lion found there selfs 3-1 up when Boca goalkeeper dropped a glen smart free kick into his own net.White lion took a 3-1 lead into the break and came out in the second half just the same playing some tidy football resulting in them taking a 4-1 lead when jamie lancaster chipped the keeper.Boca pulled one back through stefan rodia however this wasnt enough as lion finally put Boca out there misery with two more goals one from richard dixon and another from Tim manning finaly finishing them off.
Millstream Run Dry as Bridge House Triumph
Bridge House were back in action for only the second time this year on today, and again against title hopefuls. This time it was local rivals The Millstream who were on an unbeaten run going back to September.
Once again the match was a clash of styles with The Bridge House trying to get the ball down and play through midfield and the Millstream prefering a more direct style hitting hard working forwards and looking for knock downs. The opposition started slightly stonger but then after some neat Bridge House play down the left Matt Elder made a mazy run into the box and was caught for a penalty. After some hesitation 'Super' Si Scott stepped up and knocked it in. we doubled our lead shortly afterwards a strong run and cross from Alex Raven found Kris Pearson drifting into the box and his finish, while hardly elegant, did get the job done.
Millstream started getting more focussed on the referee than the football and in a near repeat of our second goal Kris only found the post when he really should have scored. But no matter because when a swift counter attack starting from Jays clearing header was fed to Alex Raven racing down the wing, he picked out a cross into the centre and Si Scott rose to find the back of the net for the goal of the game. Things got even better shortly afterwards - Ali Phipps and Si Scott combined down the left and Si's cross was diverted into his own net by a defender. It was looking like job done at 4-0 but then for the only time in the half, slight hesitation at the back allowed Millstream in and Adam Sell in goal had no chance.
Still 4-1 up at half time against the clear league leaders was an excellent position but that late goal had restored Millstreams self belief, and it was further invigorated within 5 minutes of the re-start when the referee gave a penalty for an offence no one (including opposition players, fans, or officials) had seen. Why it was given remains a mystery to this day!
The remainder of the half was played with Millstream pressure banging at our back line and Bridge House rapier like counter attacks threatening to add to our lead. It seemed like the Bridge House would break first when The Millstream got a third but then we got Ian Balding through on the keeper who made a fine save - unfortunately outside the box!! Again everyone (including the Millstream fans) agree its a clear red card - but no! only a yellow! We feel doubly agrieved when the keeper gets down to make a good save from Ians subsequent free kick.
The game continued in similar fashion till the end, but with 10 minutes to go Adam took a nasty bang on the head and with all our subs used were down to 10 men and a substitute keeper (Alex Raven). Millstream continued to throw the ball into the box but Alex came for everything and looked pretty assured to ensure he hung on for a deserved victory. Two out of two against the prospective champions!
SAVIOURS SAVE THERE BEST FOR COUGARS
Ware Saviours v Buntingford cougars, Sunday 18th Jan 2009
After 4 weeks without a game due to xmas and the lousy weather ware saviours played host to Buntngford cougars in the division 3 cup q/final, and it turned out to be a spectacular game that was end to end for 2 hours inc extra time, it had everything hard but fair challenges, and lots of
goals, both teams went all out for the win and played some really good football.
Buntingford took the lead after only 8 mins of play with some good link up play from their midfield and their forwards, Buntingford had most of the play in the 1st half but ware hit them with an equaliser just before half time, scored by Jamie wells with an overhead kick just
inside the box, just before half time Buntingford should have taken the lead but for some last ditch tackles by the ware defence and some poor finishing.
After half time ware came out with all guns blazing and took the lead after 5 mins again scored by Jamie wells from the edge of the box, straight away Buntingford had a couple of chances, kept out by some excellent goalkeeping from Dave Cockman, ware started to dominate the 2nd half and should have extended their lead but the Buntingford goalkeeper was also on top form, against the run of play Buntingford equalised with a overhead kick expertly put away by their forward, then shortly after were awarded a penalty given away by Daniel Webster, so Buntingford were 3-2 up with 15 mins to play, ware threw everything at them in the last 10 mins and it paid of dean Mckeown hit a screamer from 30 yards into the top corner, so 3-3 and into extra time, ware made a couple of changes and started to dominate the 1st period of extra time and after 10 mins were awarded a free kick, up stepped Daniel Webster to curl in a peach of a goal an redeem himself for the penalty he gave away earlier, Buntingford pushed for an equaliser but to no avail as Dan Cooper marshalled the defence superbly and you can understand how he acquired his nickname ''the legend'' man of the match for ware was dean Mckeown, so final score 4-3 to ware, it was a hard fought win against probably the best team in our division but our thanks go to Buntingford for making it such a good game

Bury Rangers 2 - 0 Jubilee FC
Scorers: Garry May, Jordan Halls
Bury Rangers continued their revival with a well-deserved 2-0 victory.
On a wet, damp Hartham pitch Bury started off the brightest, moving the ball well with slick passing & pressuring the Jubilee FC back line. It was a move that started from the Bury Rangers defence that lead to the first goal. Good work on the right side from young winger Jordan Halls created an opening for Garry May who finished smartly to give Bury a well deserved lead. The remainder of the second half was fairly evenly matched with both teams squandering half chances.
The second half began with the Jubilee FC side losing their Goalkeeper through injury. Despite the disadvantage Jubilee FC pressed looking for the equaliser but were thwarted on numerous occasions by the solid Bury defence. Jubilee FC had their chances. A ball scooped of the goal-line & a missed penalty just two moments that would prove vital in the final outcome.
Into the last quarter with both sides having chances to score. It would be Bury that would seal the game. A poor clearance from the keeper fell to the feet of Jordan Halls who rifled his half-volley into the top corner from 35 yards.
A very pleasing result for Bury Rangers & a great team performance.

F.C BOCA 9-2 DANE END UNITED
This game was a very big game for f.c Boca as we lost a little confidence losing the last two games on the spin.
The game kicked off and we dominated the first half completely with some fantastic football and every player back to normal ways clicking with each other again.
By half time we were 5-0 up with goals from Jamie Dizenzo, Andy Varnakkides (2), Steff Rodia and debutant Brett O’Connor capping off an excellent first game with a goal in the first half.
Second half begun and we began how we finished off with Andy Varnakkides securing his hat trick and making it 6-0 soon after sub Eren Ozkan was tripped in the box and got himself up to covert the penalty and make it 7-0.
After that goal we went to sleep and gifted Dane end two goals which shocked us a little so with reply Andy Varnakkiddes grabbed his forth and Darren Rawlings scored to make the game 9-2 and that’s how it finished.
I would to thank Dane end united and referee Glyn Ward for a well mannered game even in the poor conditions.

Herts Intermediate Cup 3rd Round
0 - Church End Vs Goffs Oak - 8
After an early kick-off and 90 mins of football throughout rain, snow, hail and a very cold wind Goffs Oak have moved comfortably through to the next round. With goals from Ben O'Hanlon, Sam Rose, Rory Brien, Carl Randall, Dean Byles and a hat trick from Tom Wade the game wasn't to be much of a contest to Goffs Oak. They will now face Wellington Arms (Watford Based) in the next round on the 14th December away. Hopefully a good game of football will come about when Goffs Oak take on Rosemill next in a league match to decide the likeliness of Corinthian League glory, also a big thanks to Colin Thorp our loyal supporter who was there with us, Colin has recently undergone a operation and we wish him a speedy recovery!

Intermediate Cup 3rd Round
Rosemill 4 v 3 Millstream PV
3-3 after 90 minutes
4-3 after extra time
This game was a credit to the Corinthian League with The Millstream of Division 2 taking on Rosemill of division 1. What a game theses 2 served up with Rosemills prolific goal scorer Jedd Doyle on show. He has already scored 4 hat tricks this season 3 within the last 3 weeks so this lad needed watching at all times with his super speed. The Millstream Manager warned his players but it did not sink in, because this lad scored 3 again and he was a right handful through out the 1st 45 minutes to send his team in at half time 3-0 up. But that was not a true reflection on the 1st 45 as Millstream had there chances on 3 or 4 occasions the ball was cleared of the Rosemill line and Ashley Howles making 3 or 4 excellent saves to keep The Millstream in the game. Then after the half time team talk The Millstream came out all guns blazing and got there reward when a fierce shot saw the ball come out of the Rosemills keepers arms only to be knocked home by Andy Tarsey to make it 3-1, then up stepped Steve Joshua with a 40 yard lob over the keeper to make it 3-2 this seemed to give The Millstream the belief they could get something out of the game. With the game still going from end to end you could not say who would win. With 10 minutes to go Sean Greenham
took on the defender and from just outside the box rifled the ball into the bottom right hand corner of the net to make it 3-3. There were chances for both sides but no one could get the ball into the back of the net. So with the 90 minutes gone extra time came into play. With The Millstream getting their second wind and only 5 minutes into extra time Andy Tarsey knocked the ball under the Rosemill goal keeper only for them both to collide with each other resulting in the keeper having to go to hospital with a shoulder injury the game was held up for 45 minutes. This seemed to give the Rosemill lads the break they needed when the game resumed. Both sides still went hammer and tongs at each other with The Millstream missing a 1 on 1 with the keeper and an open goal chance was not taken (A Jedd Doyle in this position would of buried it) This made you think it was not going to be The Millstreams day after all. With 2 minutes to go Rosemill broke away with some good passing what saw the ball at the feet of James Smith and he smashed the ball home to make it 4-3 and that was how it finished.
The game was played in great spirit it was most enjoyable to watch and we must give credit to the Referee Neil Morris who let this game flow from end to end what contributed to such a great game.
Both teams played the game how is should be played with some lovely football at times, speaking to Jason Kirby and the lads from Rosemill everybody enjoyed this game although we the Millstream lost this was one of the best games I have been involved in. As I’v managed a team in division 1 for the last 4 years winning the league and winning the cups this is up there with the best and I would like to thank Rosemill as a club for the pleasure.
ROSEMILL FC V THE HIGHWAY RES
The last couple of weeks Rosemill fc have started to play the football that they showed in preseason but seemed to disapair just after the season started.
Rosemill started the game like they throught it was there last ever game the passing and one touch football was so pleasing to the eye and even more so when one of the highway players who was out injured said that we were one of the best footballing sides they had come up against all season .
This game was a credit to the East Herts Corinthian Sunday Football League ,Both teams played the game in good sprit and played football and the game the way it should be played.
Romemill took the lead early on with jedd doyle to make it 1-0 and that seemed to start the fast flowing football the second come soon after scored by marc hinde to make it 2-0, but a laps in concentration let the highway back in to make it 2-1.
This seem to kick Rosemill fc into another gear it was soon 3-1 with jedd doyle scoring his second then jedds hattrick was complete when he made it 4-1 ,Then tim dutton made it 5-1 just before half time with a low shoot into the bottom corner.
The second half started much the same as the first but this time the highway surprised rosemill and scored to make it 5-2 but rosemill replied straight away with marc hinde scoring his second to make it 6-2 .
Then rosemill made some changes which seemed to interrupt Rosemills play and the highway scored to make it 6-3 this seemed to make the highway take controlle of the game for a brife time but a quick attack from Rosemill made it 7-3 and scored by nick edwards .
Rosemill would like to thank the league officialS for letting the game flow as much as possible and keeping the players in check when they needed but that was not very often as there was not a bad tackle in the game and the highway for making this game an enjoyable one
Bridge House 6 New Riverside reserves 2
After last weeks poor performance by a scratch Bridge House XI the tourists were back to give genuine selection problems again. Competition for places is a good thing but for the poor long suffering manager it brings its own problems!!
This weeks opposition have been struggling and for once Bridge House started at a decent tempo with Ali Phipps having a field day down the left hand side and "Super" Si Scott and Toby Gardner looking dangerous down the middle. We mixed up our play really well with some lovely triangles down the left and some more direct running down the right. Defensively we also looked much tighter than in recent weeks with Darren Mingay providing a shield in front of the two centre halfs who comfortably handled a powerful centre forward.
Bridge House had a couple of opportunities to take the lead but Toby spurned a golden opportunity from close rane and Si Scott was denied by the keeper. The first goal eventually came when Toby put a cross in from the left and James Harvey got a vital touch to turn it into the net. The second followed when Si Scott yet again tormented the defence, rounded the keeper and unselfishly squared to Alex who with just the goal line to beat made no mistake, depite the over enthusiastic flagging of the opposition linesman.
Si Scott got the third with a lob from distance and added another to make it four at half time which was an accurate reflection of our dominance.
To their credit New Riverside gave it a real go in the second half and got a foothold in the game when their centre forward reacted quickest after Adam sell parried an initial shot. While they were knocked out of their styride the Bridge House continued to create chances and Alex Raven got his second when the keeper failed to gether the ball leaving with two of the simplest goals he will ever get and then Ian Balding got on the score sheet with a goal direct from a corner that went in off the opposition defender at the near post.
The final period of the game was soured when the referee gave a controversial penalty for a handball as Chris Girdlestone cleared and it he mis-hit the ball onto is own hand which he unsurprisingly couldn't get out of the way.
Nonetheless a comfortable 6-2 win but with stiffer tests to come over the next few weeks we really must play for 90 minutes if we want to maintain our position at the head of the league.
F.C Boca 5-3 Landrovers F.C Res 19/10/08.
We knew our 2nd round county cup opponents was going to be tough as they have been doing very well in their league and as soon as kick off begun we was under the cosh with Landrovers centre forward going clean through and slotting the ball home to give them an early lead. Their second soon followed as one of there player scored from 20 yards with an excellent free kick. Then just before half time and defensive mistake resulted in them almost certainly finishing the game off by making it 0-3 and that was the result at half time.
After and half time coating by the manager the team shaped up making it 1-3 with team manager Dale Walters scoring the which seemed to turn thing around because a couple of minute later it was 2-3 with Stefan Rodia slotting the ball into the back of the net. Then in the next 5 minute it was 3-3 and 4-3 with Jamie Dizenzo and Ahmet Gursoy both finding the net. This unbelievable turn around didn’t look like it was on the cards from the first half performance. It certainly shocked the visitors as they begun to press very hard for an equalizer but with 2 minutes to go Jamie Dizenzo pulled out a fantastic chip over the goalie to seal the game and a 3rd round place for F.C Boca.
Match Report - Kings Langley CC FC v Hornsmill Old Boys
After making the trek all the way to Berkehamstead to face Kings Langley CC FC in the Herts junior cup , you would have thought that the Hornsmill Old Boys would have been wide awake and up for it from the start. However, for the 2nd week in a row they allowed the opposition to take the early advantage and were trailing by 1-0 within the first 10 mins.
But true to their form of late the team did not allow their heads to drop. With Jamie Higgs latching on to a through ball, followed by some neat foot work to run rings round one of their defenders he slotted home to make it 1-1.
Hornsmill Old Boys continued to press for another goal but could not pass their keeper who made a number of good saves. However, from a resulting corner Darren Paget slotted straight home from the kick by curling the ball in to the back post to make it 2-1 at half time.
The old boys come out in the 2nd half with the bit between their teeth and once again with some fine skill Jamie Higgs fired home to make it 3-1. This seemed to spur the team on, they stepped up a gear and it was not long before Higgs popped up again to score his hatrick and take the score to 4-1.
Hornsmill continued to lay siege to the Kings Langley goal and were guilty of missing a number of chance. Kings Langley then hit the Old Boys on the break and scored a consolation goal to bring the score to 4-2. |
millstream pv 4 v 1 white horse (report)
After being beaten 5-1 last week things had to change and the roasting the lads had before the game seemed to have sunk in because they came out firing on all cylinders straight from the off and with some sustained pressure got there reward after 25 minutes from a corner what was despatched with a great touch from Sean greenham to make it 1-0 all of a sudden the belief was there for every one to see. and with a few chances gone begging up stepped andy tarsey to make 2-0 who got his reward for a tireless performance to send the millstream in at half time with a well deserved lead.after the break both sides went hammer and tongs at each other from end to end then a great ball over the top of the white horse defence saw martin durkin coolly slot home to make it 3-0. but back came white horse with a goal from dean keeling to make it 3-1 . then martin durkin got his reward with his second goal and millstreams 4th what sealed a great team perfornence
HORNSMILL OB'S 3 v 5 BUNTINGFORD COUGARS
On a lovely summers morning!! two closely matched teams both played there part in an 8 goal thriller, which in some cases can be a bit harmful to the odd ticker or two. The match started
brightly for the home team with good passing football culminating in seasoned campaigner jamie hicks gliding pass 3 cougars defenders before having his low shot saved by keeper Dan Tokely.
These early exchanges or near misses seemed to wake up the young cougars team who scored after 15mins against the run of play with Max Camp cooly slotting home after some fine work
down the right involving newboy Matty Clayden; and Lee Piggott. This started off a period ofapprox 20 mins where the visitors played some fantastic flowing football which bought further
goals from young Chris Babbage and another from the unstoppable Camp.At 3 0 down hornsmillrallied towards the end of the first half bringing another smart save out of tokely, and having a ball that went though his legs unluckily/luckily hit the foot of the post!
Into the 2nd half and after a motivating teamtalk from new manager Gary Cropper (who has at long last hung his boots up) the cougars team pushed on to try and kill the match off, the possession payed off with Camp scoring two further goals with extraordinary display of finishing that most of us could only dream about, these goals were aided by veteran Kev Scales; ChazHarris in midfield and Mark and Chris Babbage.
Seemingly cruising at 5 0 down you would expect any opposition to laydown and give up, but not Hornsmill! For the last 20 mins they battered the cougars goal with chance after chance, playing to their strengths, with quick and clever forwards in Higgs, and Paget and a solid midfield.
The 3 goals Hornsmill scored came in the space of 10 mins from Dainty,Higgs, and Paget.Football is all about opinions and mine is the damage was done in the first half in the absence of HOBS manager Hayden, the young cougars team played some great football at times andDeserved the 3 points on this occassion.
HAIL the REAL
REAL POTTERS raise the BAR
Real Potters Bar recorded their second victory in successive weeks to go top of their league with a convincing 8.1 victory over league rival’s PSV. PSV, winners themselves the previous week with a similar score line, were no match for a team unable to field any substitutes and in tip-top form. With only 11 men to choose from Real started strongly scoring in the opening 10 minutes with a powerful drive from Paul Ames (30 yards); which would eventually see the midfielder dominating the centre midfield alongside Dennis Ali netting 4 superb goals, 3 of which were goal of the season contenders. Not to be out striped by Ames performance Olli mansell, who was shifted to the back four at the 11th hour, dominated the back line. Mansell himself managed to get on score sheet netting a superb drive from at least 25 yards midway through the first half. The other scorers on the day Stacy ilori dardan and Ben breakwell) added to PSVs misery. PSV themselves scored a well worked goal during the 2nd half but had all but given up at 5.1, by this time it was too little to late to mount any serious threats. The day was capped of when player manager Ben Breakwell , picked the ball up from the half way mark, created a great 1-2 to go clean through then neatly finished making it 8.1 on the day. Overall a great team effort with some memorable individual displays, watch out league two.
Hornsmill Old Boys v Cuffley Res
Both teams started off cautiously in the early exchanges. However, as the game progressed Cuffley Res started to pin Hornsmill in their half and without some solid defending from the back 4 the score line at half time could have been different from 0-0.
Obviously having a few points to improve on Hornsmill come out with the bit between their teeth in the 2nd half and this soon paid dividend when Jamie Higgs calmly lobbed the keeper from outside the box even with the keeper on the 6 yard line.
Cuffley did not let their heads drop and continued to press and were awarded a dubious penalty that even their own line person questioned. However, Alfie Ferris stepped up and calmly slotted home the spot kick to make it 1-1.
Hornsmill feeling somewhat aggrieved continued to press the visiting team and were unlucky not to get another goal when Jeremy Jones got a free header from a corner but managed to direct the ball in to the arms of the keeper. Following a few changes in the formation Brad Read found himself in the box and on the end of a cross, and rolling back the years pulled off an over head kick only for Jamie Higgis to get the slightest of deflection off his head to send the ball in to the back of the net to make it 2-1.
Wanderers 5 Bridge House 6 (21/09/08)
Scorers: Raven (4), Sell, Phipps
The Bridge House came through an 11 goal thriller on Sunday playing against Wanderers of the Welwyn Hatfield league in Herts intermediate cup.
With several players unavailable the squad was fully tested and went behind to a freak goal misjudged by the otherwise excellent Adam Sell in goal. The Bridge House were strangely subdued but got back on level terms when Alex Raven was released by Si Scott. Raven went on to add three more goals but each time the Hertford side were pegged back. With five minutes of normal time remaining keeper Adam Sell got on the scoresheet with a penalty but the lead was surrendered again to take the game into extra time.
Bridge House dominated the extra period but had to wait until the 118th minute, with the game seemingly destined for penalties, until Ali Phipps lashed in what proved eventually to be the winning goal.
Manager Micky White commented "while I am obviously pleased to progress in the cup, our overall performance left much to be desired.. This was probably our poorest performance this season. Despite the scoreline our keeper was one of best players and we were indebted to Alex Raven for his goals at the other end."
Bridge house 5 v 1 white lion.
Scorers: Toby Gardner and Sii Scott (2 each) James Harvey
Match report
Bridge House got their debut season off to a flying start with a convincing 5-1 win against local rivals White Lion. The first half saw a clash of styles as Bridge House played some lovely controlled football and took a two goal lead from Toby Gardner and a solo effort from Si Scott. White Lion were, however, always dangerous breaking quickly in numbers to turn defence into attack and when they forced a corner they got back into the game with a shot hit into the ground and looping into the net. It was Si Scott who settled any half time nerves when he struck a sweet volley into the top corner.
The second half was generally a scrappy affair but any hopes of a White Lion fight back were dashed when James Harvey smashed the ball into the corner from 12 yards and then Toby Gardner got his second with a curling shot that took a deflection into the net.
The Bridge House continued to create chances only to find the opposition keeper Paul Sharkey in fine form and making a succession of crucial saves. When he was beaten a free kick from Ian Balding crashed onto the post.

The Salisbury 2 v 0 Dane End Utd. report
Dane End were left kicking themselves as they failed to take advantage of a poor first half performance from The Salisbury. The visitors created the majority of the chances in the first half and were unfortunate not to be in the lead going into the break.
A well taken goal from Chris Reeves on the hour followed up with Lee Roberts netting 10 minutes later gave The Salisbury a comfortable lead.
In the 76th minute Dane End had a penalty awarded and thoughts of a comeback were on only for man of the match goalkeeper Richard Jaggs to save the spot kick.
The Salisbury saw out the last 10 minutes and collected all 3 points on offer.
The Millstream pv 0 v 3 Sun & Harrow (res) report
The start of a new season saw the millstream who came down from division 1 last season with a wake up call as sun & harrow res run out with a very easy 3 - 0 win. with a goal after only 5 minutes from a Steve Ellis corner what some how sneaked in then after 30 minutes a through ball saw Jamie marshal slot home past Ashley howles who should of come off his line with more determination and that all Jamie marshal needed to put the sun & harrow 2 - 0 up at half time then after the break millstream were given a fortunate penalty but still could not score as Andy tarsey hit the post it was never going to be there day then the sun & harrow broke away where it looked certain that Steve Joshua was going to clear the ball but a dreadful error saw Dan wade who was a millstream lad last year lob the keeper to make it 3 - 0 the sun & harrow deserved there win.
