LION TAMES THE OLD BOYS TO END SEASON ON A HIGH

White lion went into the jubilee cup final knowing that after losing in the league cup final that this was not going to be an easy game against a side that beat millstream in the semi final how ever white lion started the game brightly with ricky smart pulling the strings in midfield it was only a matter of time be fore taking the lead in the first half hour through a bicycle kick on the edge of the box from jamie lancaster how ever the lead didn't last long as a strong and well organised hornsmill side thought back to make it 1-1 through martin burrows-gee and well deserved as the old boys did not stop believing in them selves and are a very tight nit side been together years and tony hayden the manger is a credit to his team and the league
the second half started with white lion pressure however they could not seem to find that second goal with a number of missed chances with tom woodward getting down the line was always a danger with his distribution. this was proving to be a very hard game until a corner found glen smart all alone to head home to make it 2-1.To there credit hornsmill battled back and looked like they could get an equaliser until another goal from jamie lancaster finally killed the game off making it 3-1 at the end.
White lion would like to thank hornsmill old boys for a great game and would also like to congratulate them in making it to the final good luck for next year thanks.

The Stream Rain Champions

Millstream 4 – 2 FC Boca

The game was the best of the four encounters these two clubs have contested all season both clubs have dominated all season with FC Boca knocking Millstream out of 2 cup semi finals

1 – 0, and 2 – 1, and Millstream doing the double in the League 3 – 2 and 4 – 2. Both clubs play the game the way it should be played I can’t remember one bad word against each other on the pitch. Both teams have the up most respect for each other. In 4 hard thought games there have only been 4 yellow cards.

FC Boca went into the game 2 points behind that meant a win was the only result they could get to win the league, 10 minutes into the game a good move down the left saw the ball fall to the feet of Michael Tebbit and from the left edge of the box, he hit a fierce shot into the bottom right of the net to make it 1-0 to the Millstream and made it a bigger hill for FC Boca to climb. But with the talent that they have throughout there team this was never over. Millstream went in at half time 1-0 to the good the second half started with both sides playing football it was end to end and on the 53rd minute a ball over the millstream defence saw Steve Wright lob the keeper only to hit the crossbar but the oncoming Ahmet Gursoy who was at the back post slot the ball home to make it 1-1 and it was just the lift they needed. This game went to another level with not only being tight but tense as well and on 65 minutes FC Boca split the millstream defence and Andrew Varnakkides bearing down on goal to coolly slot the ball home to make it 2-1 Boca. This seemed to unnerve the Millstream then an injury to David Jones of the Millstream saw the Manager make 2 subs, bringing on Harry loud and Martin Durkin to replace Jones and Sean Greenham. Within 5 minutes Andy Tarsey got down the right to cross the ball and there was Durkin to make it 2-2 the balance swinging back to the millstream all of a sudden. It was just what the Millstream deserved then with 15 minutes to go Michael Bardle picked the ball up and going away from goal hit the ball with his right foot straight into the top corner to make it 3-2 Millstream. Bardle and the FC Boca midfield man Patrick Campbell had a battle all game and are both a credit to the game of football and two of the most genuine and gentlemen of the game. I would have loved to of seen Campbell when he was younger because he is some player and as a manager myself he must be a credit to have in your side. Then with 10 minutes to go a ball into the box to Andy Tarsey who tormented the FC Boca defence all game was bundled over and the millstream was awarded a penalty and up stepped David Gerty to convert the penalty to make it 4-2 and bury the game. Both teams had goal chances and both sides hitting the bar. Its very hard to pick a man of the match but Michael Tebbit of the Millstream was superb and had a great attitude he gave every thing he had and as I said Patrick Campbell of FC Boca makes the game look so easy and is a class act at the age of 38. I would like to thank Graham Martin as acting chairperson & fixtures secretary and Paul Carter as referee’s secretary for covering all the fixtures. All the referee’s, all the clubs who represent this league you are all a credit and a special thanks to Dale the manager of FC Boca and on the day the ref Melvin Pateman who was different class and his linesman Paul carter and Ian godber who where superb.

THE STREAM IS SINKING AS THE OLD BOYS PLAY THEM OFF THE PARK.

Millstream where top of division 2 and seamed to think the Old Boys from Hornsmill where going to be a push over but they come unstuck. Millstream went ahead after 10 minutes with a good finish from Martin Durkin and they seemed to think the game was won. But after this there was only ever going to be one side that was going to win and that was Hornsmill Old Boys as ever single player on there side wanted to win. The Millstream have to learn from this that you have to have a bit of heart. On 35 minutes the classy Jamie Higgs picked the ball up from 35 yards out to lob the keeper, this lad dose not need many chances as this is what he can do to any side at any level even he showed how much it meant to him at he duly let the players and management from the Millstream know as he peeled away cupping his ears. The game stayed 1 – 1 till half time. After the break Martin Burrows-Gee and Darren Paget tormented the millstream defence to force a corner the ball was played into the box and Matthew Cook rose above the Millstream defence to head the ball home. He was by far the best player on the pitch and deserved his goal to make it 2 – 1 as the game went on the Millstream seemed to get worse and worse and with James Hogg and Bradley Read working there socks off in mid field they seemed to win everything. This is the kind of passion they showed all game and with a great ball forward to Darren Paget who curled the ball from 40 yards over the keeper and into the top right hand corner of the net to make it 3 – 1 and the Millstream had nothing in return as they only had 4 shots on target all game. I would just like to wish good luck to Tony Hayden and all the lads in the final as they deserve to be there.

Lightening strike twice for millstream as F.C Boca win Lcc Quarter final battle!

Two weeks ago both F.C. Boca and Millstream put on a fantastic display in the semi final of the division 2 shield and the Lcc cup quarter final clash this sunday did not disapoint.
The game kicked off and same as the first game millstream created the early chances with two F.C boca players making some goal line clearances.
As the first half grew on F.c Boca starting playing some fantastic football spreading the ball round on what is easily the best pitch in the league.
half time its was 0-0 and it looked like another extra time battle.
The second half had the same quality as the both teams was playing football and creating chances 10 minutes in the second half and millstream goal keeper pulled off a great savesfrom an excelliant free kick from Dale Walters then a good shot from Darren Rawlings.
Then 15 minute from the end Darren Rawlings played in a excellient corner which fell to Andew Varnakkides he volleyed the ball with power and millstream goal keeper pull off a brilliant save but was not enough as centre half Rob Rollinson poked in the ball at the back post to make it 1-0 to F.C Boca.
Then same as the last game Millstream then hit us with unreal pressure and their last attack committed every one and F.c Boca counter attacked with Ahmet Gursoy narrowly missing a chance to make 2-0 and kill the game.
When the whistle went it was a relief and i would like to thank clive brooks and the millstream for another fantastic game who were all very professional in defeat.
Also i would like to thank the officals as there were superb in a very high tempo game.
F.c Boca now meet the cuffley in the semi final.

SALE SHATTERS GOFFS OAK DREAMS

Cuffley Reserves of the Third Division came back from the dead twice to remarkably defeat Division One and Cup Champions Goffs Oak C.C on penalties in the League Challenge Cup quarter final. After going 2 - 0 down through goals from Dean Byles and Tommy Wade the youngsters battled back after a Rory Delap-esque throw from Eugene McIntyre was flicked in at the far post by captain Alfie Ferris. Goffs then piled on the pressure but couldn’t find a killer goal. Then, with 30 seconds to go, a Cuffley corner was eventually smashed in by Peter Capplis, forcing extra time. After an even first half, penalties loomed; however Goffs had other ideas, with Samuel Rose capping off a great move to give them a 3 - 2 lead with just 5 minutes left. But Cuffley refused to die, with just a minute left in extra time, a ball over the top was latched onto by Lloyd Sale, who hit a rocket of a shot over the keeper from 25 yards, forcing penalties. After 5 penalties each, the score was at 5 - 5, neither team missing a kick. After some deliberation from the players, Cuffley goalkeeper Beppe Castiglione stepped up for their 6th spot kick, tucking it into the bottom corner. He then stepped between the sticks and pulled off a remarkable save to send Cuffley to the semi-finals in their first season in senior football. Manager Steve Sale said “my boys just don’t know when to die. Just when you think it’s all over, they dig deep and pull it out of the bag. I’ve got nothing but admiration for them”. Cuffley will face either FC Boca or The Millstream of Division Two in the semis.

Sunday saw the Bridge House in action in the Jubilee Cup, and run out comfortable winners against a struggling Van Hage team.

The managers pre match concentrated on the need to avoid complacency against lowly opposition, reminding the team that they were currently without several first team regulars, and have a poor record away from home and in cup competitions.

But any fears of an upset were allayed when "The Legend that is the Marnix" rose like a salmon at the far post and steared his header into the top corner after 5 minutes. This-new found arial threat was no doubt helped by the 80's revival wig Marnix was wearing for the day! Alex Raven then had to be sharply off his line at the other end before Marnix had the ball in the net again only to have his effort chalked off for a slight handball. This was soon forgotten when after a sharp turn Marnix drove a low shot went into the far corner.

Van Hage came back again and a long range effort sailed over Raven in the Bridge House goal only to slam into the bar. The game was then however put beyond doubt when Tom Andrews produced two thunderbolts from 25 yards. Either were worthy of goal of the day, both were taken on the volley and the keeper could have set out on Saturday and still wouldn't have got across in time!

Marnix and Ollie Gardner both had golden chances in the six yard box with only the goal line to beat, but both skyed their efforts over the bar.

The second half was a pretty dreadful spectacle with too many individuals and not enough teamwork. Dave Keenan saw his first goal of the season, but just chipped it to the keeper instead. Ali Phipps hit the bar and Toby Gardner continued to hit the keeper! Eventually pressure had to tell and when the Van Hage keeper could only parry an Ali Phipps effort Toby was on hand to steer the ball home.

Marnix had yet another effort for his hatrick, but his tame effort was cleared off the line by the covering defender.

Then with 10 minutes to go Toby Gardner was again on hand to drive the ball home from 12 yards for his second and the Bridge House's sixth

The Bridge House away jinx struck once again at Presdales on Sunday, when an unlucky own goal from the otherwise excellent Matt Elder cost us a deserved three points.

As the season winds down Bridge House are picking up some worrying long term injuries, with three players already out for the season and six other players unavailable this week. So we were very glad to welcome Tom Andrews and Mike Smyth back after long breaks.

As so often this season The Bridge House played all the football with trademark dribbles by Ali Phipps down the left and Ian Balding always finding space on the right. It was therefore no surprise that it was from a combination of those players that we took the lead. Ian Baldings goal bound shot from ali Phipps' cross was blocked but Mikey Smyth was on hand to ram home the loose ball. But again the game followed a typical pattern as for all our possession we failed to create enough clear chances and did not kill off the game against well organised and hard working oponents.

The second half was a scrappy affair with Bridge House having a what chances there were and the back four dealing comfortably with any Sun & Harrow attacks. The game seemed destined for a one nil result until Matt Elders unlucky intervention.

I guess this result summed our 'so near yet so far' season playing some really great football, often scoring goals for fun but then dropping points even when the opposition had not even mustered a shot on target in the 90 minutes!

THE LION MAULS FC BOCA

One of the results of the season came on sunday when white lion shocked title hopefulls fc Boca with a 6-2 thrashing. White lion were certainly up for this right from the start playing some great football and creating plenty of chances. However the pressure finally paid off when a great through ball found jamie lancaster who raced through to finish into the top corner to make it 1-0.With more great football from white lion soon doubled there lead through ricky smart. However Boca didnt give in and pulled one back through daniel mitchell.Shortly after white lion found there selfs 3-1 up when Boca goalkeeper dropped a glen smart free kick into his own net.White lion took a 3-1 lead into the break and came out in the second half just the same playing some tidy football resulting in them taking a 4-1 lead when jamie lancaster chipped the keeper.Boca pulled one back through stefan rodia however this wasnt enough as lion finally put Boca out there misery with two more goals one from richard dixon and another from Tim manning finaly finishing them off.

Millstream Run Dry as Bridge House Triumph

Bridge House were back in action for only the second time this year on today, and again against title hopefuls. This time it was local rivals The Millstream who were on an unbeaten run going back to September.

Once again the match was a clash of styles with The Bridge House trying to get the ball down and play through midfield and the Millstream prefering a more direct style hitting hard working forwards and looking for knock downs. The opposition started slightly stonger but then after some neat Bridge House play down the left Matt Elder made a mazy run into the box and was caught for a penalty. After some hesitation 'Super' Si Scott stepped up and knocked it in. we doubled our lead shortly afterwards a strong run and cross from Alex Raven found Kris Pearson drifting into the box and his finish, while hardly elegant, did get the job done.

Millstream started getting more focussed on the referee than the football and in a near repeat of our second goal Kris only found the post when he really should have scored. But no matter because when a swift counter attack starting from Jays clearing header was fed to Alex Raven racing down the wing, he picked out a cross into the centre and Si Scott rose to find the back of the net for the goal of the game. Things got even better shortly afterwards -  Ali Phipps and Si Scott combined down the left and Si's cross was diverted into his own net by a defender. It was looking like job done at 4-0 but then for the only time in the half, slight hesitation at the back allowed Millstream in and Adam Sell in goal had no chance.

Still 4-1 up at half time against the clear league leaders was an excellent position but that late goal had restored Millstreams self belief, and it was further invigorated within 5 minutes of the re-start when the referee gave a penalty for an offence no one (including opposition players, fans, or officials) had seen. Why it was given remains a mystery to this day!

The remainder of the half was played with Millstream pressure banging at our back line and Bridge House rapier like counter attacks threatening to add to our lead. It seemed like the Bridge House would break first when The Millstream got a third but then we got Ian Balding through on the keeper who made a fine save - unfortunately outside the box!! Again everyone (including the Millstream fans) agree its a clear red card - but no! only a yellow! We feel doubly agrieved when the keeper gets down to make a good save from Ians subsequent free kick.

The game continued in similar fashion till the end, but with 10 minutes to go Adam took a nasty bang on the head and with all our subs used were down to 10 men and a substitute keeper (Alex Raven). Millstream continued to throw the ball into the box but Alex came for everything and looked pretty assured to ensure he hung on for a deserved victory. Two out of two against the prospective champions!

SAVIOURS SAVE THERE BEST FOR COUGARS

Ware Saviours v Buntingford cougars, Sunday 18th Jan 2009

After 4 weeks without a game due to xmas and the lousy weather ware saviours played host to Buntngford cougars in the division 3 cup q/final, and it turned out to be a spectacular game that was end to end for 2 hours inc extra time, it had everything hard but fair challenges, and lots of
goals, both teams went all out for the win and played some really good football.
Buntingford took the lead after only 8 mins of play with some good link up play from their midfield and their forwards, Buntingford had most of the play in the 1st half but ware hit them with an equaliser just before half time, scored by Jamie wells with an overhead kick just
inside the box, just before half time Buntingford should have taken the lead but for some last ditch tackles by the ware defence and some poor finishing.
After half time ware came out with all guns blazing and took the lead after 5 mins again scored by Jamie wells from the edge of the box, straight away Buntingford had a couple of chances, kept out by some excellent goalkeeping from Dave Cockman, ware started to dominate the 2nd half and should have extended their lead but the Buntingford goalkeeper was also on top form, against the run of play Buntingford equalised with a overhead kick expertly put away by their forward, then shortly after were awarded a penalty given away by Daniel Webster, so Buntingford were 3-2 up with 15 mins to play, ware threw everything at them in the last 10 mins and it paid of dean Mckeown hit a screamer from 30 yards into the top corner, so 3-3 and into extra time, ware made a couple of changes and started to dominate the 1st period of extra time and after 10 mins were awarded a free kick, up stepped Daniel Webster to curl in a peach of a goal an redeem himself for the penalty he gave away earlier, Buntingford pushed for an equaliser but to no avail as Dan Cooper marshalled the defence superbly and you can understand how he acquired his nickname ''the legend'' man of the match for ware was dean Mckeown, so final score 4-3 to ware, it was a hard fought win against probably the best team in our division but our thanks go to Buntingford for making it such a good game

30/11/08

Bury Rangers 2 - 0 Jubilee FC

Scorers: Garry May, Jordan Halls

Bury Rangers continued their revival with a well-deserved 2-0 victory.

On a wet, damp Hartham pitch Bury started off the brightest, moving the ball well with slick passing & pressuring the Jubilee FC back line. It was a move that started from the Bury Rangers defence that lead to the first goal. Good work on the right side from young winger Jordan Halls created an opening for Garry May who finished smartly to give Bury a well deserved lead. The remainder of the second half was fairly evenly matched with both teams squandering half chances.

The second half began with the Jubilee FC side losing their Goalkeeper through injury. Despite the disadvantage Jubilee FC pressed looking for the equaliser but were thwarted on numerous occasions by the solid Bury defence. Jubilee FC had their chances. A ball scooped of the goal-line & a missed penalty just two moments that would prove vital in the final outcome.

Into the last quarter with both sides having chances to score. It would be Bury that would seal the game. A poor clearance from the keeper fell to the feet of Jordan Halls who rifled his half-volley into the top corner from 35 yards.

A very pleasing result for Bury Rangers & a great team performance.

F.C BOCA 9-2 DANE END UNITED

This game was a very big game for f.c Boca as we lost a little confidence losing the last two games on the spin.

The game kicked off and we dominated the first half completely with some fantastic football and every player back to normal ways clicking with each other again.

By half time we were 5-0 up with goals from Jamie Dizenzo, Andy Varnakkides (2), Steff Rodia and debutant Brett O’Connor capping off an excellent first game with a goal in the first half.

Second half begun and we began how we finished off with Andy Varnakkides securing his hat trick and making it 6-0 soon after sub Eren Ozkan was tripped in the box and got himself up to covert the penalty and make it 7-0.

After that goal we went to sleep and gifted Dane end two goals which shocked us a little so with reply Andy Varnakkiddes grabbed his forth and Darren Rawlings scored to make the game 9-2 and that’s how it finished.

I would to thank Dane end united and referee Glyn Ward for a well mannered game even in the poor conditions.

Herts Intermediate Cup 3rd Round

0 - Church End   Vs    Goffs Oak - 8

After an early kick-off and 90 mins of football throughout rain, snow, hail and a very cold wind Goffs Oak have moved comfortably through to the next round. With goals from Ben O'Hanlon, Sam Rose, Rory Brien, Carl Randall, Dean Byles and a hat trick from Tom Wade the game wasn't to be much of a contest to Goffs Oak. They will now face Wellington Arms (Watford Based) in the next round on the 14th December away.  Hopefully a good game of football will come about when Goffs Oak take on Rosemill next in a league match to decide the likeliness of Corinthian League glory, also a big thanks to Colin Thorp our loyal supporter who was there with us, Colin has recently undergone a operation and we wish him a speedy recovery!

Intermediate Cup 3rd Round

Rosemill 4 v 3 Millstream PV

3-3 after 90 minutes

4-3 after extra time

This game was a credit to the Corinthian League with The Millstream of Division 2 taking on Rosemill of division 1. What a game theses 2 served up with Rosemills prolific goal scorer Jedd Doyle on show. He has already scored 4 hat tricks this season 3 within the last 3 weeks so this lad needed watching at all times with his super speed. The Millstream Manager warned his players but it did not sink in, because this lad scored 3 again and he was a right handful through out the 1st 45 minutes to send his team in at half time 3-0 up. But that was not a true reflection on the 1st 45 as Millstream had there chances on 3 or 4 occasions the ball was cleared of the Rosemill line and Ashley Howles making 3 or 4 excellent saves to keep The Millstream in the game. Then after the half time team talk The Millstream came out all guns blazing and got there reward when a fierce shot saw the ball come out of the Rosemills keepers arms only to be knocked home by Andy Tarsey to make it 3-1, then up stepped Steve Joshua with a 40 yard lob over the keeper to make it 3-2 this seemed to give The Millstream the belief they could get something out of the game. With the game still going from end to end you could not say who would win. With 10 minutes to go Sean Greenham

took on the defender and from just outside the box rifled the ball into the bottom right hand corner of the net to make it 3-3. There were chances for both sides but no one could get the ball into the back of the net. So with the 90 minutes gone extra time came into play. With The Millstream getting their second wind and only 5 minutes into extra time Andy Tarsey knocked the ball under the Rosemill goal keeper only for them both to collide with each other resulting in the keeper having to go to hospital with a shoulder injury the game was held up for 45 minutes. This seemed to give the Rosemill lads the break they needed when the game resumed. Both sides still went hammer and tongs at each other with The Millstream missing a 1 on 1 with the keeper and an open goal chance was not taken (A Jedd Doyle in this position would of buried it) This made you think it was not going to be The Millstreams day after all. With 2 minutes to go Rosemill  broke away with some good passing what saw the ball at the feet of James Smith and he smashed the ball home to make it 4-3 and that was how it finished.

The game was played in great spirit it was most enjoyable to watch and we must give credit to the Referee Neil Morris who let this game flow from end to end what contributed to such a great game.

Both teams played the game how is should be played with some lovely football at times, speaking to Jason Kirby and the lads from Rosemill everybody enjoyed this game although we the Millstream lost this was one of the best games I have been involved in. As I’v managed a team in division 1 for the last 4 years winning the league and winning the cups this is up there with the best and I would like to thank Rosemill as a club for the pleasure.

ROSEMILL FC V THE HIGHWAY RES

The last couple of weeks Rosemill fc have started to play the football that they showed in preseason but seemed to disapair just after the season started.
Rosemill started the game like they throught it was there last ever game the passing and one touch football was so pleasing to the eye and even more so when one of the highway players who was out injured said that we were one of the best footballing sides they had come up against all season .

This game was a credit to the East Herts Corinthian Sunday Football League ,Both teams played the game in good sprit and played football and the game the way it should be played.

Romemill took the lead early on with jedd doyle to make it 1-0 and that seemed to start the fast flowing football the second come soon after scored by marc hinde to make it 2-0, but a laps in concentration let the highway back in to make it 2-1.
This seem to kick Rosemill fc into another gear it was soon 3-1 with jedd doyle scoring his second then jedds hattrick was complete when he made it 4-1 ,Then tim dutton made it 5-1 just before half time with a low shoot into the bottom corner.

The second half started much the same as the first but this time the highway surprised rosemill and scored to make it 5-2 but rosemill replied straight away with marc hinde scoring his second to make it 6-2 .
Then rosemill made some changes which seemed to interrupt Rosemills play and the highway scored to make it 6-3 this seemed to make the highway take controlle of the game for a brife time but a quick attack from Rosemill made it 7-3 and scored by nick edwards .

Rosemill would like to thank the league officialS for letting the game flow as much as possible and keeping the players in check when they needed but that was not very often as there was not a bad tackle in the game and the highway for making this game an enjoyable one

Bridge House 6 New Riverside reserves 2

After last weeks poor performance by a scratch Bridge House XI the tourists were back to give genuine selection problems again. Competition for places is a good thing but for the poor long suffering manager it brings its own problems!!

This weeks opposition have been struggling and for once Bridge House started at a decent tempo with Ali Phipps having a field day down the left hand side and "Super" Si Scott and Toby Gardner looking dangerous down the middle. We mixed up our play really well with some lovely triangles down the left and some more direct running down the right. Defensively we also looked much tighter than in recent weeks with Darren Mingay providing a shield in front of the two centre halfs who comfortably handled a powerful centre forward.

Bridge House had a couple of opportunities to take the lead but Toby spurned a golden opportunity from close rane and Si Scott was denied by the keeper. The first goal eventually came when Toby put a cross in from the left and James Harvey got a vital touch to turn it into the net. The second followed when Si Scott yet again tormented the defence, rounded the keeper and unselfishly squared to Alex who with just the goal line to beat made no mistake, depite the over enthusiastic flagging of the opposition linesman.

Si Scott got the third with a lob from distance and added another to make it four at half time which was an accurate reflection of our dominance.

To their credit New Riverside gave it a real go in the second half and got a foothold in the game when their centre forward reacted quickest after Adam sell parried an initial shot. While they were knocked out of their styride the Bridge House continued to create chances and Alex Raven got his second when the keeper failed to gether the ball leaving with two of the simplest goals he will ever get and then Ian Balding got on the score sheet with a goal direct from a corner that went in off the opposition defender at the near post.

The final period of the game was soured when the referee gave a controversial penalty for a handball as Chris Girdlestone cleared and it he mis-hit the ball onto is own hand which he unsurprisingly couldn't get out of the way.

Nonetheless a comfortable 6-2 win but with stiffer tests to come over the next few weeks we really must play for 90 minutes if we want to maintain our position at the head of the league.

F.C Boca 5-3 Landrovers F.C Res 19/10/08.

We knew our 2nd  round county cup opponents was going to be tough as they have been doing very well in their league and as soon as kick off begun we was under the cosh with Landrovers centre forward going clean through and slotting the ball home to give them an early lead. Their second soon followed as one of there player scored from 20 yards with an excellent free kick. Then just before half time and defensive mistake resulted in them almost certainly finishing the game off by making it 0-3 and that was the result at half time.

After and half time coating by the manager the team shaped up making it 1-3 with team manager Dale Walters scoring the which seemed to turn thing around because a couple of minute later it was 2-3 with Stefan Rodia slotting the ball into the back of the net. Then in the next 5 minute it was 3-3 and 4-3 with Jamie Dizenzo and Ahmet Gursoy both finding the net. This unbelievable turn around didn’t look like it was on the cards from the first half performance. It certainly shocked the visitors as they begun to press very hard for an equalizer but with 2 minutes to go Jamie Dizenzo pulled out a fantastic chip over the goalie to seal the game and a 3rd round place for F.C Boca.

Match Report - Kings Langley CC FC v Hornsmill Old Boys

After making the trek all the way to Berkehamstead to face Kings Langley CC FC in the Herts junior cup , you would have thought that the Hornsmill Old Boys would have been wide awake and up for it from the start. However, for the 2nd week in a row they allowed the opposition to take the early advantage and were trailing by 1-0 within the first 10 mins.

But true to their form of late the team did not allow their heads to drop. With Jamie Higgs latching on to a through ball, followed by some neat foot work to run rings round one of their defenders he slotted home to make it 1-1.

Hornsmill Old Boys continued to press for another goal but could not pass their keeper who made a number of good saves. However, from a resulting corner Darren Paget slotted straight home from the kick by curling the ball in to the back post to make it 2-1 at half time.

The old boys come out in the 2nd half with the bit between their teeth and once again with some fine skill Jamie Higgs fired home to make it 3-1. This seemed to spur the team on, they stepped up a gear and it was not long before Higgs popped up again to score his hatrick and take the score to 4-1.

Hornsmill continued to lay siege to the Kings Langley goal and were guilty of missing a number of chance.  Kings Langley then hit the Old Boys on the break and scored a consolation goal to bring the score to 4-2.

After being beaten 5-1 last week things had to change and the roasting the lads had before the game seemed to have sunk in because they came out firing on all cylinders straight from the off and with some sustained pressure got there reward after 25 minutes from a corner what was despatched with a great touch from Sean greenham to make it 1-0 all of a sudden the belief was there for every one to see. and with a few chances gone begging up stepped andy tarsey to make 2-0 who got his reward for a tireless performance to send the millstream in at half time with a well deserved lead.after the break both sides went hammer and tongs at each other from end to end then a great ball over the top of the white horse defence saw martin durkin coolly slot home to make it 3-0. but back came white horse with a goal from dean keeling to make it 3-1 . then martin durkin got his reward with his second goal and millstreams 4th what sealed a great team perfornence

HORNSMILL OB'S  3  v  5  BUNTINGFORD COUGARS

On a lovely summers morning!! two closely matched teams both played there part in an 8 goal thriller, which in some cases can be a bit harmful to the odd ticker or two. The match started

brightly for the home team with good passing football culminating in seasoned campaigner jamie hicks gliding pass 3 cougars defenders before having his low shot saved by keeper Dan Tokely.

These early exchanges or near misses seemed to wake up the young cougars team who scored after 15mins against the run of play with Max Camp cooly slotting home after some fine work

down the right involving newboy Matty Clayden; and Lee Piggott. This started off a period ofapprox 20 mins where the visitors played some fantastic flowing football which bought further

goals from young Chris Babbage and another from the unstoppable Camp.At 3 0 down hornsmillrallied towards the end of the first half bringing another smart save out of tokely, and having a ball that went though his legs unluckily/luckily hit the foot of the post!

Into the 2nd half and after a motivating teamtalk from new manager Gary Cropper (who has at long last hung his boots up) the cougars team pushed on to try and kill the match off, the  possession payed off with Camp scoring two further goals with extraordinary display of finishing that most of us could only dream about, these goals were aided by veteran Kev Scales; ChazHarris in midfield and Mark and Chris Babbage.

Seemingly cruising at 5 0 down you would expect any opposition to laydown and give up, but not Hornsmill! For the last 20 mins they battered the cougars goal with chance after chance, playing to their strengths, with quick and clever forwards in Higgs, and Paget and a solid midfield.

The 3 goals Hornsmill scored came in the space of 10 mins from Dainty,Higgs, and Paget.Football is all about opinions and mine is the damage was done in the first half in the absence of HOBS manager Hayden, the young cougars team played some great football at times andDeserved the 3 points on this occassion.

HAIL the REAL

REAL POTTERS raise the BAR

Real Potters Bar recorded their second victory in successive weeks to go top of their league with a convincing 8.1 victory over league rival’s PSV. PSV, winners themselves the previous week with a similar score line, were no match for a team unable to field any substitutes and in tip-top form. With only 11 men to choose from Real started strongly scoring in the opening 10 minutes with a powerful drive from Paul Ames (30 yards); which would eventually see the midfielder dominating the centre midfield alongside Dennis Ali netting 4 superb goals, 3 of which were goal of the season contenders. Not to be out striped by Ames performance Olli mansell, who was shifted to the back four at the 11th hour, dominated the back line. Mansell himself managed to get on score sheet netting a superb drive from at least 25 yards midway through the first half. The other scorers on the day Stacy ilori dardan and Ben breakwell) added to PSVs misery. PSV themselves scored a well worked goal during the 2nd half but had all but given up at 5.1, by this time it was too little to late to mount any serious threats. The day was capped of when player manager Ben Breakwell , picked the ball up from the half way mark, created a great 1-2 to go clean through then neatly finished making it 8.1 on the day. Overall a great team effort with some memorable individual displays, watch out league two.

Hornsmill Old Boys v Cuffley Res

Both teams started off cautiously in the early exchanges. However, as the game progressed Cuffley Res started to pin Hornsmill in their half and without some solid defending from the back 4 the score line at half time could have been different from 0-0.
Obviously having a few points to improve on Hornsmill come out with the bit between their teeth in the 2nd half and this soon paid dividend when Jamie Higgs calmly lobbed the keeper from outside the box even with the keeper on the 6 yard line.
Cuffley did not let their heads drop and continued to press and were awarded a dubious penalty that even their own line person questioned. However, Alfie Ferris stepped up and calmly slotted home the spot kick to make it 1-1.
Hornsmill feeling somewhat aggrieved continued to press the visiting team and were unlucky not to get another goal when Jeremy Jones got a free header from a corner but managed to direct the ball in to the arms of the keeper. Following a few changes in the formation Brad Read found himself in the box and on the end of a cross, and rolling back the years pulled off an over head kick only for Jamie Higgis to get the slightest of deflection off his head to send the ball in to the back of the net to make it 2-1.

Wanderers 5 Bridge House 6     (21/09/08)

Scorers: Raven (4), Sell, Phipps

The Bridge House came through an 11 goal thriller on Sunday playing against Wanderers of the Welwyn Hatfield league in Herts intermediate cup.

With several players unavailable the squad was fully tested and went behind to a freak goal misjudged by the otherwise excellent Adam Sell in goal. The Bridge House were strangely subdued but got back on level terms when Alex Raven was released by Si Scott. Raven went on to add three more goals but each time the Hertford side were pegged back. With five minutes of normal time remaining keeper Adam Sell got on the scoresheet with a penalty but the lead was surrendered again to take the game into extra time.

Bridge House dominated the extra period but had to wait until the 118th minute, with the game seemingly destined for penalties, until Ali Phipps lashed in what proved eventually to be the winning goal.

Manager Micky White commented "while I am obviously pleased to progress in the cup, our overall performance left much to be desired.. This was probably our poorest performance this season. Despite the scoreline our keeper was one of best players and we were indebted to Alex Raven for his goals at the other end."

Bridge house 5 v 1 white lion.

Scorers: Toby Gardner and Sii Scott (2 each) James Harvey

Match report

Bridge House got their debut season off to a flying start with a convincing 5-1 win against local rivals White Lion. The first half saw a clash of styles as Bridge House played some lovely controlled football and took a two goal lead from Toby Gardner and a solo effort from Si Scott. White Lion were, however, always dangerous breaking quickly in numbers to turn defence into attack and when they forced a corner they got back into the game with a shot hit into the ground and looping into the net. It was Si Scott who settled any half time nerves when he struck a sweet volley into the top corner.

The second half was generally a scrappy affair but any hopes of a White Lion fight back were dashed when James Harvey smashed the ball into the corner from 12 yards and then Toby Gardner got his second with a curling shot that took a deflection into the net.

The Bridge House continued to create chances only to find the opposition keeper Paul Sharkey in fine form and making a succession of crucial saves. When he was beaten a free kick from Ian Balding crashed onto the post.

Next week Bridge House in County Cup action vs. Wanderers of the Welwyn Hatfield league.

The Salisbury 2 v 0 Dane End Utd. report

Dane End were left kicking themselves as they failed to take advantage of a poor first half performance from The Salisbury. The visitors created the majority of the chances in the first half and were unfortunate not to be in the lead going into the break.
A well taken goal from Chris Reeves on the hour followed up with Lee Roberts netting 10 minutes later gave The Salisbury a comfortable lead.
In the 76th minute Dane End had a penalty awarded and thoughts of a comeback were on only for man of the match goalkeeper Richard Jaggs to save the spot kick.
The Salisbury saw out the last 10 minutes and collected all 3 points on offer.

The Millstream pv   0  v  3 Sun & Harrow (res) report

The start of a new season saw the millstream who came down from division 1 last season with a wake up call as sun & harrow res run out with a very easy 3 - 0 win. with a goal after only 5 minutes from a Steve Ellis corner what some how sneaked in then after 30 minutes a through ball saw Jamie marshal slot home past Ashley howles who should of come off his line with more determination and that all Jamie marshal needed to put the sun & harrow 2 - 0 up at half time then after the break millstream were given a fortunate penalty but still could not score as Andy tarsey hit the post it was never going to be there day then the sun & harrow broke away where it looked certain that Steve Joshua was going to clear the ball but a dreadful error saw Dan wade who was a millstream lad last year lob the keeper to make it 3 - 0 the sun & harrow deserved there win.

F.C. Boca shine victorious in the Division 2 final

F.C. Boca done fantastic to edge past sun and harrow and the millstream in the past rounds and we knew white lion would be no push over in the final. The game kicked off  and immediately we was pegged back under pressure with Jamie Lancaster connected with a cross with his head which Boca’s keeper Tony Edmunds pulled off one the saves of the season.

White lion had a few more chances but Tony the cat edmunds was  there to deny them.

As the white lion missed  the early chances f.c boca grew stronger and half way through the 1st  half white lion’s right back darren bentley committed a crazy lunge on Scott Wright in the box which resulting in a penalty which Stefan Rodia coolly slotted home to make it 1-0 Boca. Then 5 minute later Scott Wright found himself at the back post tapping home the ball from close range to make it 2-0 and leaving white lion stunned. Then 2 minutes before half time we conceded a hand ball that  was just outside the area resulting in Jamie Lancaster hitting the post and score remained 2-0 to half time.

The second half kick off and 10 minute into the second half  Jamie Dizenzo tripped Jamie Lancaster which resulted in white lion being given a penalty which Ricky smart slotted home to make it 2-1 and this then spurred on the very passionate white lions fan base.

The game then went through a quite spell but 10 minute from the end Ahmet Gursoy capitalised on a white lion mistake  to run through one on one the right back manage to catch him only to pull him down the give F.c Boca their second penalty on the day which Stefan rodia smashed home and effectively killed the game of at 3-1. I would like thanks all the white lion players and fans for their excellent contributions to the game. Also the officials who were fantastic (yes even you mr Godber!!!). Also massive thanks to Clive Brooks and Graham Martin that put on an excellent cup final. Also the Boca fans who cheered us on to the end.

F.C Boca Edge cup semi final.

After beating the Millstream in the cup quarters we was very confident going in to the semi against Cuffley even though they had caused the upset of the last round beating Goffs oak.

The game kick off and Cuffley created the first early chance with there centre forward missing a one on one.

As the first half settled down Boca then began the play and it wasn’t long before Darren Rawlings went on a solo run and buried the ball past the cuffley keeper.

That goal should have sparked us into creating more but it had the reverse effect with cuffley pressing hard for the equalizer and it wasn’t long as several poor clearances resulted in the ball finding the Cuffley front man and he placed the ball past the Boca keeper.

The game remained this result at half time.

The second half begun and most of the procession was around the midfield area not much was really being created with both defences performing very well. Then after a few tactical substitutions a 5 pass piece of play down the left resulted in sub Stefan Rodia scoring with his first touch at the back post.

The Cuffley youngsters then press hard but could not break what was a very solid back line and F.c. Boca held out at 2-1.

Cuffley should take great credit for the game, for a new side into adult football played outstanding.

We now meet a fellow Cheshunt rivals in the final New Riverside which will be a very entertaining game.

Divisional 1 cup

Rosemill FC V Jubilee
The game started off at a quick pace with both teams trying to get the early advantage but that fell to Rosemill FC with jedd doyle on the score sheet yet again to make it 1-0,both teams showed some really good football but it did not take to long for jedd doyal to try the jubilee goal keeper with a 30 yard shot that hit the bar that fell safe. then just before half time onfrid tona  scored rosemill fcs second from a very tight angle after good work from jedd doyal, jubilee tried to press on but the whole Rosemill team played and defended well and just to make things interesting the ref awarded a penalty to jubilee with 3 minutes to go but a fine save from Phil McCormick put ever ones mind at ease sending rosemill fc into the division 1 cup final in there first season againest division one winners goffs oak

STEVE'S BOYS SET SALE INTO THE SEMI FINALS

shock of the season came in the challenge cup where defending champions and leaders off division one got beat by Cuffley reserves who are mid table in division 3 Goffs oak went 2 nil up and looked to be strolling but no one told manager steve sale and his boys that this was over Steves been in the game too long to give up he decided to make a change and this seemed to of worked as a 30 yard throw saw Alfie Ferris ghost in on the back post to claw 1 back then with 5 minutes to go Cuffley reserves won a corner and from the corner Peter Capplis lashed the ball home to make it 2-2 . then in extra time Goffs oak with 4 minutes on the clock made it 3-2 at this time you would of thought the game was over but yet again these lads from Cuffley who are no older than 17 years of age come back again with 2 minutes to go with a strike from 30 yards from Lloyd Sale to make it 3-3 sending the game into penalties at this stage you would of put your money on Goffs oak as they have got on paper some of the best players in there team who play at a high standard on saturdays but this didn't seem to bother Cuffley as after 5 penalties each up stepped the Cuffley keeper to make it 6-5 then he took his position back in goal to save Goffs oak 6th penalties and send them into the semi final this club is one of the best clubs that the east Herts corinthian sunday football league has seen for a long time as they are so young they are all ready in the division 3 cup final in there first season and credit must go to all the players, the manager steve sale and all the back room staff at Cuffley they have been a credit to this league with the way they conduct them self's.

THE STREAM WAS DRAINED

AFTER LAST WEEKEND THUMPING F.C. BOCA RESPONDED WITH A CUP FINAL PLACE
Division 2 cup semi-final F.C. Boca Vs Millstream P.V (2-1 AET)
Last weekend was a low point for F.C. Boca and we knew this weekend opposition was going to be tough as it was ment to be the paper final as we both have been neck and neck in the league title chase all season but unfortunatley got drawn in the semis.
The game kicked off and we was under cosh straight away with some direct football from the millstream looking for there powerful forwards.
It was a battle and both defences were performing very well and the only real chance in the first half went to millstream with forward andy tarsey hitting the post.
At half time well all realised that we must raise are game and begun to get more involved in the second half.
Then we got the break through with some great midfield play and a cheeky flick from boca's forward andy, Scott Wright run throught and finished the ball from an acute angle to put boca in front.
The goal made us more vunrable and within 5 minutes of taking the lead millstream pulled one back with tarsey slipping one through the Boca keepers legs. After the equalizer it was end to end stuff with both teams hitting the bar and both goal keepers pulling off good saves.
Then the whistle for full time went and we began extra time. Both team had battled hard and you could see the tiredness in all players but mid way in the first half of extra time skipper Lee Walker pick up the ball from 25 yard and smashed a screamer in the top hand corner leaving the millstream stunned and putting Boca back in front. We then had the battle our socks off with some heavy pressure from the millstream and it was a great relief to hear the final whistle to put F.C Boca through to the final.
This was played in front of one the biggest crowds i have ever since on a sunday league game and would like to thank the Millstream for thier outstanding contributions to the game battling all the way the end.

Dane End Utd1v4Bridge House

For the second week Running we were playing away on a pitch with a pronounced slope, this Time, even Ali recognised which way was up! With Si Scott out Injured and a couple of others missing we welcomed Marnix Garner and Henry Scofield back into the squad.

Starting the match Playing against the slope we opted for a changed 4-3-3 formation with Ali Phipps and Ian Balding either side of Toby Gardner up front with Alex Raven continuing in goal and Keenan, Keenan and Mingay in midfield. The conditions were sure to make it a scrappy game but despite the steep incline The Bridge House still dominated the half with Matt Elder and Ali Phipps getting a lot of joy down the left.

After 20 minutes Richard Keenan threaded a lovely through ball to Ali cutting in from the left and his effortless finish was a goal from the moment it left

his foot. More good work down the left led to the second when Ali won the ball back from the right back and his cross was steered home by Ian Balding. The back four were coping well with the oppositions attacks, but when they did make a break Alex Raven dived full length to turn the shot wide.

At half time Darren Mingay uttered the immortal line "we're 2-0 up away from home and  going down a sheer drop - what can go wrong?". Two minutes later from

the kick off it was back to 2-1 when a slip of concentration at the  back allowed Dane End through, and even though Alex pulled off a good  save it went in of the thigh of the onrushing striker.

The half settled down after that into a pretty scrappy affair, with Toby continuing his  first half form of working hard and creating chances but hitting

either the keeper or the woodwork. Eventually the law of averages did apply and Toby got a deserved goal after another through ball from Ricco Keenan. Shortly after that we won a free kick 30 yards out and Chris Girdlestone siezed the ball and smashed it (literally) through the net. After some discussion the goals stood and Chris got the goal some excellent performances this season have  deserved.

SECOND HALF FIGHT BACK EARNS JUBILEE FC VITAL WIN AGAINST BURY LODGE

Jubilee FC came from 4-1 down at half time to snatch the 5-4.  In a thrilling game Bury lodge took a 2-0 lead despite early pressure from Jubilee with goals from Andrew Stevenson and James Kidd.   Jubilee then pulled one back with a composed finish from Shaphain Weekes.  It looked like Jubilee had worked themselves back into the game until Steve Humphries long range effort dipped in under the bar to give bury a two goal advantage.  Bury then increased there lead to 4-1 with Andrew Stevenson grabbing his second goal of the game.  Jubilee’s head were down and the sound of the half time whistle couldn’t of came any sooner !

Jubilee rallied there troops and came out of the traps with a high tempo and this soon paid off when Neil Thompson made it 4-2 with a left foot drive into the top corner.  Jubilee could sense a comeback.  Shaphain Weekes then showed his composure when one on one with the keeper with a low shot which went in off the post to make it 4-3.   Bury lodge had few good set-pieces to score but Danny Benbow playing as an emergency goalkeeper was on top form and punching out of his goal on numerous occasions.  Jubilee then hit Bury on the counter-attack as Joseph Benbow went though and equalised with a sliding shot which crept into the corner to make it 4-4.  The game was very tense at this stage with 15 minutes to go and both teams fighting for the victory until Joseph Benbow poached his second of the game to make it 5-4 with a great finish to complete this amazing fight back.   Jubilee held on with both teams having chances to snatch the game dramatically 5-4.

Goffs Oak Squash the Bury

22nd February 2009

Goffs Oak 8 – 0 Bury Rangers

Goffs Oak F.C. cruised through the 90 mins against opposition Bury Rangers leading to an overwhelming 8-0 win. Goals from Carl Thorpe, Samuel Rose, Tommy Wade, a brace from Rory Brien and a hat-trick from Jamie Vine was certainly enough to secure the win.

Due to the minimal games played in February it was clear that Goffs Oak were delighted to be back playing after two weeks off, they started the game with a quick tempo and within ten minutes of the whistle the first goal was scored. By half time the current holders were 3-0 up and very optimistic that another high scoring game could be on the cards, similar to the early season victory. With the second half under way Bury found glimpses of light but were soon stopped by veteran goalkeeper Dean Davey with spells at many of the higher league teams it was clear that it would take some effort to beat this keeper. Not to long into the second half the scoring began again, another 5 goals were scored in the second half bringing the total to 8.

A win which was thoroughly deserved from an in form Goffs Oak team who rarely removed the pressure from Bury Rangers defense for the entire 90 mins.

THE HORSE TAMES THE LION

If going by recent matches a game between the White Lion and White Horse was going to have loads of goals and this match did not disappoint. The White Horse got on the score sheet first with Michael Warby finishing off a swift and incisive passing move down the left wing. The White Lion drew level with a thundering free kick from tom woodward.Just before the end of the first half the White Horse went into the lead once again with Chris Riddell volleying past the keeper from a free kick. In the second half the pitch started to cut up but both teams kept trying to play football. The White Horse had been dominant in the air all game and as a result created a number of chances in the second half, but the White Lion keeper paul sharky was equal to all efforts on goal until Ricky Purse was on hand to poke home a corner. The White Lion then came back again and scored. a second from tom woodward The White Lion started to play long balls at the White Horse rear guard but the White horse defence held firm and created a number of counter attacking chances but failed to take advantage of them. The final whistle went and the result was 3-2 to the White Horse.

14th December

FC Boca 2 v 3 Millstream

This was a game that was all ways going to be a tight battle and it lived up to be one of the best of the season with both teams holding a lot of respect for each other on and off the pitch and it was helped by having a very good referee and linesmen who new the importance of the game and let both teams get on with the job in hand. Millstream opened the scoring with a ball from David Gerty into the channel which the keeper miss judged and that was all Andy Tarsey needed to slot home from the corner of the box he beat the keeper at his near post to make it 1-0. Any one watching new this was never going to stay 1-0 with both sides going at each other from end to end Boca deserved the equalizer from a throw in, Andrew Varnakkides got in front of the keeper to make it 1-1 at half time. After 20 minutes of the second half Andrew Varnakkides slotted home his second of the game this lad no's where the back of the net is. this seemed to shock the Millstream into action and 10 minutes later a break away saw a fierce shot from Andy Tarsey come back off the keeper for Sean Greenham to knock home to make it 2-2.This seemed to be how it was going to end with both keeper pulling of some great saves and Andy Tarsey from the Millstream hitting the crossbar. Then with 10 minutes left Millstream got a corner, the ball was swung into the box for Andy Tarsey to rise and head the ball home to make it 3-2 to the Millstream in the last 5 minutes Boca threw every thing they had left at the Millstream by sending there goal keeper up but could not get the goal they needed and it ended up 3-2 to the Millstream. no one deserved to lose. This game was a credit to The East Herts Corinthian Sunday Football League it was played with passion and with Managers like Dale Walters from FC Boca this is why the League Committee Members give up there own time to run this league as we have a lot of good people running sides. Also dont forget the referees and linesmen. In this game we both clubs would like to thank Mr Jim Beadle, Mr Colin Sadler And Mr Ian Godber who made this game what it was.

23rd November

Division 2 Cup 1st round.

Bridge House  2  v  3  Millstream

Millstream seek revenge after a 5-1 beating in the League early in the season with a 3-2 Division Cup win in the 1st round, what proved to be a bridge to far for the new side who are top of Division 2.After 20 minutes on the clock saw a good move down the left side of the park with the ball falling to Simon Scott who tapped the ball home from close range for the Bridge House to go 1-0 up. With the game flowing from end to end Millstream started to flow with a cross from Sean Greenham to the back post, saw the classy Martin Durkin head the ball back across the goal for David Gerty to knock home to make it 1-1 this seemed to spark of both sides who went at each other with some great football and went in at the break level. On the 60th minute with some good inter play saw the ball at Alasdair Phipps feet and from 25 yards out saw his shoot come off the cross bar and into the net to make it 2-1 to the Bridge. But as like previous weeks the Millstream don’t know when they are beat. With a good move from the back Ray Aggio picked the ball up and sliced open the Bridges defence and Andy Tarsy ran on to the ball to slot the ball underneath the keeper and into the net to make it 2-2. Then on come super sub Paul Greenham for Joe Morley and with 7 minutes to go a cross to Martin Durkin who tormented the Bridge House all game squared it to Paul Greenham and he beat the defence with ease with the on coming keeper bearing down on him he showed his class by lifting the ball over the keeper to make it 3-2 to the Millstream. This seemed to shock the Bridge House who came into the game thinking they was going to have a walk in the park but they ended up with there bridge broken and the stream flowing as the game came to an end with a Millstream win.

23/11/08

Millstream PV   3 v  2   Bridge House

Local rivals The Millstream reversed a comprehensive league defeat coming out 3-2 winners in the divisional cup. On a bitterly cold and wet morning the opposition took an intense pre match warm up into the game and dominated the early exchanges, albeit without unduly worrying the goal. Gradually The Bridge House woke up and started carving open the Millstream back line, Toby Gadner missed the best chance with a free header 5 yards out. But a few minutes later Ali Phipps again beat his player and drilled th eball across goal leaving Si Scott with a simple finish from 8 yards out.

This led to a period where Bridge House had the upper hand, where our passing and movement was at times quite excellent and the opposition were often chasing shadows. Unfortunately our old faults returned to hurt us with failure to take chances then a slight lack in concentration at the back which allowed a dangerous cross from which a misdirected header gave millstream to equalise.

With the score at 1-1 we started the second half again creating chances and took a 2-1 lead when Ali Phipps cracked in a shot from 25 yards that went in off the bar. Again we seemed comfortably set until Adam struggled to gather the ball on the greasy pitch, leaving Millstream with the easiest of chances to equalise.

Unfortunately in an not overly physical game Ali then came in for some pretty rough treatment and was left limping after a fierce challenge that drew a foul. Worse was to come when Ali again beat his man only to be scythed down from behind in a tackle that somehow didnt warrent further action. That necessitated our final substitution which unfortunately left the team unbalanced in the final third.

We went behind with 10 minutes to go when a slight lack of concentration allowed Millstream some space on the edge of the box from which they worked what proved to be the winning goal.

With four minutes to go Alex Raven pushed up front from emergency centre back raced through but couldnt beat the keeper and when the rebound fell to Si Scott his goal bound shot was well blocked by the Millstream defence.

Overall a game with mixed feelings. Very disappointed to have lost and to have had a player injured in such a reckless tackle, but also proud of some of the excellent football we played and determination to play properly in the face of some pretty rough treatment that was a credit to the team

The Highway 1 Vs 8 Goffs Oak

On a chilly Sunday morning, Goals from Tom Wade, Rory Brien, Dean Byles, a brace from Carl Randall and a Hat Trick from Sam Rose sealed a comfortable win for the G.O. although conceding one, Goffs Oak were undoubtedly untroubled and held possession throughout the 90 mins. Therefore Goffs Oak lies comfortably at the top of the table and still remains in all three cups.

 Rosemill FC v New Riverside

After the last few weeks of having good results Rosemill FC went into this game with lots of confidence and with the added excitement of 2 old players playing against each other this was going to be a good match, But with New Riverside only starting the game with 10 men you would have thought the game would have been one sided , Well when Rosemill FC went into a 3-0 lead with goals from Jedd Doyle ,Marc Hinde and Paul Dring like most I thought the game was over but some of the Old Riverside never say die most of rubbed off on the New Riverside as they came back at as to go in at half time 3-2.

With pitch conditions terrible more like a mud bath both teams tried to play flowing football but only managing it at times ,
with New Riverside seemingly running out of gas due to pitch conditions and only having 10 men Rosemill FC took advantage and scored 2 more goals and both coming from Jedd Doyle to make the final score 5-2 .
Once again the game past with no major incidences and was played in a good spirited way due to both sides wanting to play football the way it should

ROSEMILL FC 7 V 1 JUBILEE FC 2/11/08

Another good performance by Rosemill FC playing the football when they had to and putting the effort in when they where not in precision .
Another good game by the league official a quick booking to one of our players (Rosemill FC) seemed to do the trick as this made them understand that opening your mouth is not good the rest of the game seem to pass with no major incidents and was played in good sprit.
The game started well for Rosemill FC with a quick goal from Nick Edwards from about 35 to 40 yards out to make it 1-0 (David Bentley eat your heart out).
This seemed to set the tone for the rest of the game and the second goal came just as quick when one of Rosemill's players was brought down in the area and up stepped Paul Dring from the penalty spot to make it 2-0, Both teams where playing good football but Rosemill just seemed to be getting the better of Jubilee.
Jedd Doyle made it 3-0 before half time.
The second half Jubilee FC caught Rosemill FC a sleep and made it 3-1, but nearly straight away Rosemill FC went on the attack and Paul Dring grabbing his second and made it 4-1 ,Then Jedd Doyle made it 5-1 this promoted Rosemill FC to make some changes but this week Rosemill FC kept there shape and Marc Hinde made it 6-1 .
Then Jedd Doyle scored his third to complete his hat rick that's 2 in 2 weeks ,the score line was keep even lower by the Jubilee keeper who seemed to pull of some very good saves ,overall a very good team effort played some good football and mixed when we had to ,We would like to thank Jubilee FC for good game of football

to double there lead bridge house equalised through alex raven white lion however responded taking a 2-1 lead from a well taken finish from michael freeman who then scored again just before half time to give lion a 3-1 half time lead. the second half was pretty much of the same for lion creating a number of chances but failing to score but however they did manage to find that killer fourth goal through jamie lancaster to score his second of the game and give white lion a deserved 4-1 victory.

Real Potters Bar 2  v  3  Cuffley Reserves

The young Cuffley team have been enjoying life in the EHCSFL so far, with 7 points from 5 games and looked to take revenge on Real Potters Bar after the 4 - 4 thriller a few weeks back. Cuffley started the game in fine form, passing and moving the ball around quickly and after 20 minutes, they took the lead. An over-hit through ball brought the keeper out, the clearance was poor and fell to Ciaran McKenna, who struck superbly from 25 yards out into an open net. Real came back, putting pressure onto Cuffley's defense but to no avail and at half time the game remained at 0 - 1.

The second half began well for both sides, but it was Cuffley who took advantage when Lloyd Sale fired home after a perfectly timed through ball. Cuffley looked in command, but Real showed spirit and Olly Mansell pulled one back, scoring from a well worked move.
Minutes later, the Real comeback was complete with a fine chip over the Cuffley 'keeper by Andrew Curtis, levelling at 2 - 2 with 10 minutes to go. As Real pressed forward for a winner, Cuffley broke away, Lloyd Sale being set away once more and grabbing the winner with 5 minutes to go.

Bridge House 4 Dane End 0

Scorers T Gardner 2, Si Scott, I Balding

Ultimately a comfortable victory, but for 70 minutes Dane End were still in the game at 1-0 down. Three goals in the final quarter of an hour made the scoreline more representative of chances but until they got the second Bridge House couldn't relax.

After making their usual slow start The Bridge House then took control of the first half with Ian Balding get in great positions on the left and Mike Smyth and Jay Tooley combining down the right. The opening goal came when James Harvey won the ball in midfield and played in Toby Gardner who finished with ease.

Either side of the goal we created good chances with the clearest falling to Si Scott virtually on the goalline but who couldnt react when the keeper misssed a low cross.

The second half started more evenly but with the Bridge House still the better team and eventually pressure told with Si Scott getting the important second goal to give us breathing space. Shortly afterwards Ian Balding got his just reward for a fine performance with a shot low into the corner of the nett then Darren Mingay won a fierce tackle in his own his own half made 20 yards and released Toby Gardner to get the fourth.

Overall not one of our best performances, but a good three points

BUNTINGFORD COUGARS 4  V  1 GOFFS GREMLINS

Who needs computers when we have the real Babbages that matter!!  On a seriously hideous day where the heavens stayed open for the whole game, cougars continued with their good start to the season with a comfortable win against the gremlins. Having started well gremlins soon came under pressure down both flanks with Lee Piggott, and Mark Babbage, it was from a babbage through ball that camp was upended in the penalty area and ref Bobby Scarth awarded a penalty. With a calm assurance last weeks hero camp stepped up, and!!!! put it wide. We should have sent him to colditz for that. Back on with the game and the home team continued to dominate and create more chances and it wasnt long before Babbage junior Chris got on the score sheet with a calm finish, from a well worked move down the right involving Piggott, and Camp. Only a matter of minutes later it was two then three nil with goals from the brothers in arms babbages Mark and Chris. The first from Mark from a well worked short corner. From then until half time gremlins rallied and the score stayed the same.

Into the second half, and the home team having lost inspirational manager Cropper to another pressing engagement in his busy life, executive tickets for the Spurs v Hull match! He supports Chelsea! SORT OF!!. It was much the same 2nd half with attack after attack from the impressive cougars., it wasn't until 15 minutes from time when newboy Stevie Moss slipped in the penalty area and made it 4 0. Yet again Gremlins would'nt stay down and scored a late consolation goal with Hunt notching.

This game did go to the inform side but was played in great spirits by both teams and reffed well by Bobby Scarth, a credit to the league in my opinion

The Highway 3 Bridge House 0

Well, after eleven unbeaten games The Bridge House finally lost 3-0 today to a team that, in the final analysis were a bit more determined and sharp to the ball. the first goal came from a penalty when the Highway forward drew a fould from Jeff Marshall. The Bridge House then settled and started to find some forward momentum Si Scott and Alex Raven both had a couple on of one on one situations with the keeper but could convert. Ian Balding got on the ball and chose to shoot when perhaps he could have taken it on. But then a sucker punch when a foul on the halfway line went unpunished we were exposed down our left hand side and Adam Sell had no chance.

The second half was a little better but we failed to work the keeper and then conceded the crucial third with 20 minutes to go when a communication breakdown between goalkeeper and Ollie Gardner resulted in Adam gifting the forward a straightforward goal.

There was still time for Ian Balding to strike a fine free kick onto the woodwork that summed up our day.

Real out of Jail as Cuffs are let loose

Real Potters Bar earned a draw this weekend with a 4-4 draw away to young side Cuffley Jnrs. On a warm morning Real started strongly with the down hill advantage dominating the first 15 minutes with Dennis ali neatly heading in a well placed corner from last weeks man of the match Ames. Cuffley always a threat with their pace upfront levelled the game to make it 1-1. The game was controlled well for the rest of the first half by Real who were eventually rewarded when Smith and Ames combined brilliants down the right catching the Cuffley youngsters sleeping with a quickly taken short corner. Ames then smashed home with a left foot drive from an awkward angle outside of the box. Real quickly capitalised on their pressure and added a further two goals in the final 5 minutes of the half. Forward man Stacy hitting a brace, the fourth a great move and with a superb finish after breaking through the offside trap. Half time came and the score was 4-1 to Real, the away side looking the stronger. Changing ends and with the odds against Cuffley they made an immediate impact. The young guns came out with all guns blazing and were quickly rewarded scoring a well worked goal beating the offside trap, neatly finished with a well placed lob leaving keeper Vango no chance. At 4-2 Real started to tire slightly as the youngsters showed their youth throughout the second half and using the down hill to their full advantage. On the back foot for much of the 2nd half it was soon 4-3 with again another goal from the home team. It wasn’t long until they levelled the game up at 4 a piece and Real looking slightly edgy in the final minutes. At 4-4 keeper Vango made several excellent saves to keep the visitors in the game which could have easily seen the home team taking all the spoils. With only seconds on the clock though it was Real who nearly took all 3 point with Adam making a darting run from nowhere down the right side beating 4 players to neatly square into the box, Ames with only a 3 yard tap in, clearly concentrating on the TAXI in the car park, blasted over the cross bar with only the goal line to beat. If his 3 goals last week were goal of the season contenders then this is surely a contender for miss of the season. All in all a fair result for both side.

Bridge House 5 (Raven 2, Phipps, T Gardner, Wildsmith) - Millstream 1

The Bridge House started slowly against Millstream in this most local of derbys, with many players of both teams well aware of each other and much local pride at stake. It seemed that they had weathered the oppositions opening spell and had worked a fine move from which Toby Gardner hit the post when they went one behind.

That at last woke the Bridge House and they started pressing Millstream back with Ollie Gardner making some good runs from full back and Si Scott always looking for either a clever pass or goalscoring opportunity. Mike Smyth headed a corner over when unmarked in the six yard box but with a couple of minutes left in the half Toby Gardner was on hand to finish when the ball ran free from a blocked shot.

Bridge House started the second half much more brightly and most of the play was now in the opposition half and when Ali Phipps got some space on the left he smashed an unstoppable shot past the keeper in a trademark goal. That seemed to knock the stuffing from the opposition who lost a lot shape and when Bridge House scored two more in two minutes the game was definitely over.

The first came when Alan Wildsmith ended his century long goal drought when he rose (yes he left the ground) at the far post to head the ball into the top corner. Then, shortly afterwards, Alex Raven added the fourth.

There was still time for Raven to notch his second on the day which took his goal tally to 11 over the last two weekends (Saturdays and Sundays).

Rosemill FC v Interwoon FC

After a very impressive first game of the season last week in the league it was now time to switch our attentions to the intermediate cup playing against Interwoon FC .

Rosemill FC started the game brightly with some very good interchanging football which they have been producing in preseason and took the lead early on with a fine header from Jedd Doyle to make it one nil ,the second goal came a little later with a volley from well out side the box from Tim Dutton his first of the season which was just to powerful for the keeper to make it two nil (makes up for the penalty miss last week ) .

After that the game just went down hill from there Rosemill FC just seemed to go down to Interwoods level and take there foot of the gas, Rosemill FC kept the pressure on Interwood FC with shot after shot but could not find the net.

Then mid way through the half Nick Edwards let ripe with a screamer from 30 yards that ended up in the top corner ,overall not a very good performance but can not fault the players effort, player of the week went to Nick Edwards and Tony Lawrance ,the players would like to thank Phil McCormick for the entertainment with the dog in the car park.

VAN HAGES  7  v  2  WAGGON & HORSES RES.

The wheels fell off the Waggon on Sunday as a confident Van Hage performance saw the garden centre side thrash their first league opposition of the season at Presdales Playing Fields.
After lining up for a pre-match photograph, Van Hage proceded to remain focused from the kick-off to take an early lead and settle opening day nerves.

Captain Phil Blackwell struck a fifth minute shot past the stranded Waggon & Horses keeper after debutant, James Gurr (Gurrsey MC), played a perfectly weighted through-ball directly into his path.

Van Hage doubled their lead shortly after as Phil grabbed his second in as many minutes; heading home a brilliant Dan Dearden cross from close range before being substituted for asthmatic reasons.

In typical Van Hage fashion, Waggon & Horses were gifted a lifeline on the half-hour mark until right-back Ricky Foskett smashed home a stunning 25-yard strike into the top-right corner to regain a two goal advantage for his team.

However, predictably, another goal was conceded and Van Hage began to stumble as half-time approached with the score at 3-2.

But check this. Lyrical genius Gurrsey MC was on hand to slot home a forth for Van Hage before the break to raptuous applause and adoration from the record crowd of ten people.

The second period began at a furious pace as both teams battled for midfield dominance on the ridiculously wide pitch.

New signing Richard Gouriet added to the Van Hage tally on 60 minutes after more unselfish play from the Gurrsinator, before midfielder-come-striker, Stuart Indge secured a well-taken brace in the final quarter of the match.

Van Hage finally ran out deserved 7-2 winners following the longest minute of injury time since the great long minute of injury time of 1927.

Particular praise goes to outstanding performances from Darren Caslake, Matt Apostolos, Sam Woods and James Gurr; but in essence it was the collective effort of the entire team that produced such a convincing display to collect all three points.

Rosemill FC 6 v 0 Bury Rangers

After a slow start ,rosemill started to find the form that they had been playing during their pre-season friendlies ,paul dring opened the scoring in the first half and further goals from marc hinde and jedd doyle see us go in at half time 3-0 up.
The second half was very much the same with rosemill on the attack ,but missing a hand full of chances they then made the break through with jedd doyle scoring 2 more goals, the game was made easier with one of the bury rangers players being sent off ,the game was wraped up with jason kirby on as a late sub scoring the 6th goal.
A very pleasing result as this is rosemills first season in the E.H.C.S.L a good performance by the hole team ,man of the match was shared by chas curtis and tony lawrance
